DRU BRU

We love all things craft with good design, branding and style. So when the designer reached out to us to come up with a wood concept for a new brewery project we jumped at the oppertunity. A few things that got us excited about the project was the commitment from DRU BRU to create an environment that fit the winter based community.  The design team ended up settling on grey barnsiding for the look. Surface Theory ended up milling that material with random thickness to show a slight varience in the over all look. We also milled the material at a random facewidth so it looked less linear.

Dru Bru had a little concern that the wood was going to look a little less uniform than they had orginally planned so Ross showed up when the wood was delivered to walk the contractor through the install process. The contractor Edge design build did an amazing job at making this wood install a reality.

What wood material was used on your project?

As you know “The reclaimed wood that we sourced through Surface Theory is a focal point of the aesthetics of our taproom. In partnership with our designer, we partnered with Ross to select the perfect material which included reviewing samples and variations until we found our match. Once selected, we were able to customize the thickness and width of each plank as we wanted a highly textured and random appearance. The quality and character of this wood provides a texture and depth to our space that couldn’t be possible with any other material. Customers continue to compliment the wood and inquire about it’s origins. Best of all, the wood is already 50+ years old so it now looks as good as it did the day it was installed”.
